A Point to Ponder...

PROJECT IDEA:

For an Easter Project we fill clean empty jars with
Jelly Beans
and put the Jelly Bean Prayer on the outside of the jars.
This makes a great Easter gift to give to friends, relatives,
elderly people, and to make for a Sunday School Project.
You can use small baby food jars or huge pickle jars,
 or any size in between.

THE JELLY BEAN PRAYER

RED IS FOR THE BLOOD HE GAVE.
GREEN IS FOR THE GRASS HE MADE.
YELLOW IS FOR THE SUN SO BRIGHT.
ORANGE IS FOR THE EDGE OF NIGHT.
BLACK IS FOR THE SINS WE MADE.
WHITE IS FOR THE GRACE HE GAVE.
PURPLE IS FOR HIS HOUR OF SORROW.
PINK IS FOR OUR NEW TOMORROW.

A BAG FULL OF JELLY BEANS
COLORFUL AND SWEET,
IS A PRAYER, IS A PROMISE,
IS A SPECIAL TREAT
MAY THE JOY OF CHRIST'S RESURRECTION
FILL YOUR HEART AND BLESS YOUR LIFE.

Written by Shirley Kozak
The popularity of this prayer used at Easter time
has spread across the world due to the internet.

PROJECT IDEA:

For an Easter Project Or Great Idea for a Sunday School Lesson or at Home

You need 12 plastic easter eggs. Inside each egg you put a verse of the "Easter/Resurrection" Story and an item to represent that. You number the eggs 1 - 12 with a marker, then we hide them and the kids hunt for them. Once they've found them all, we open each egg in order and read the "Easter/Resurrection" story from the pieces of paper. Here's what you put in each egg and the scripture to write on a piece of paper inside each egg as well...

#1 - a piece of a cracker, broken (Matthew 26:26)
#2 - 3 silver dimes (3 pieces of silver) (Matthew 26:14-15)
#3 - 1 purple piece of cloth (felt or material - represents the purple robes) (Mark 15:17)
#4 - thorns (from any bush or rose) (Matthew 27:29)
#5 - scourge (piece of thick string or rope tied to a twig)(Matthew 20:19)
#6 - Cross made of toothpicks (John 19:17-18)
#7 - 3 Nails(John20:25)
#8 - Sign (King of the Jews)(Luke 23:28)
#9 - Sponge (Matthew 27:48)
#10 - Spear (toothpick or straight nail) (John 19:34)
