Heaven’s So Far Away

She had her best dress on, her hair tied with bows
It’s Dad’s Day at school, she couldn’t wait to go
She rushed off so eager to tell them all
About a dad she never sees, a dad that never calls

The teacher called her name, they all turned to stare
Searching for her dad, the man who was not there
She must not have a dad, someone dared to say
Another deadbeat dad, too lazy to come today

My daddy he loves me, he’d be here today
You see, he’s with Jesus now and Heaven’s so far away
My dad was a fireman, he bravely died that year
When the planes hit the towers, that taught us all to fear

I love my dad so very much, when I close my eyes
His presence so close, just like he’s standing there
I feel him in my heart, when mom and I kneel to pray
He can’t be here with me, Heaven's so far away

My daddy, he loves me, he’d be here today
You see, he’s with Jesus now and Heaven’s so far away
My dad was a fireman, he bravely died that year
When the planes hit the towers, that taught us all to fear

He could not be here on this special day
It’s not that he don’t love me
It’s just Heaven’s so far away
